Lago Slugs Sheriffs to 9-8 Win
|
Sheriffs designated hitter Nyles Lago put his stamp on his team's 9-8 win over the Newark Gunners. Lago was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Poughkeepsie in the contest. Poughkeepsie reliever Seóirse Braad picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Rodger Lawson was saddled with the loss. With the victory, the Sheriffs upped their record to 16-13.
Poughkeepsie relied on the bat of Juan Pérez to get the win. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sheriffs ahead, 9-8. For the game, Pérez had 3 doubles and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
