Almost There: Saint John On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 6-5 Win
|
The Saint John Sasquatches moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Truro United at Saint John Stadium by a score of 6-5. Sasquatches catcher Donald Dickinson was named player of the game after he went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. The win gives the Sasquatches a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Had Kevin Stinson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Stinson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Sasquatches.
"By the skin of our teeth, man," Dickinson told the Saint John Bulletin. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."
The next game is scheduled for Thursday. The scheduled starters for the game are Badrak Dingane for Saint John and Nadhir Kareem for Truro.
