Almost There: Saint John On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 2-1 Win
|
The Saint John Sasquatches faced a challenging opponent in Cardiff Alliance right-hander Qaraja Badr al Din, but did just enough to squeak out a 2-1 win in Game of the ACB Championship today. Saint John now leads - in the best-of- series. The Sasquatches won despite the Alliance getting an excellent start from starter Badr al Din, who allowed 2 earned runs at scattered 6 hits over 8 innings.
It could have been a different outcome for Saint John, had it not been for Edgardo Martínez, the 22-year old right fielder . Martínez contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Saint John up, 2-1.
"Best-of- series are brutal," Cardiff manager Fedele Sapia said. "You can get into trouble so fast. We can't afford any mistakes now."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Héctor Pérez for the Saint John Sasquatches and Suhayb bin Mahmoud for the the Cardiff Alliance.
