Game was big. So was Qaraja Badr al Din.

The Cardiff starter rose to the occasion at Saint John Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Alliance to a crucial 4-1 victory over the Saint John Sasquatches. Badr al Din threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball as the Alliance won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- TBL Classic.

Cardiff used the timely hitting of Javier Acosta to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Alliance on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"That felt great," Badr al Din said. "It basically means we're going on to the Round 2, which I know I'm not supposed to say, but let's face it, it's true."

The next game is scheduled for Saturday, November 14th, 1987 in Cardiff. Slated to start are Taweel bin Qaraja for the Saint John Sasquatches and Slobodan Zoric for the the Cardiff Alliance.
