Pivotal Game Goes to Host Sasquatches, 8-3
|
The Saint John Sasquatches moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Cardiff Alliance at Saint John Stadium by a score of 8-3. Sasquatches center fielder Jesús Díaz was named player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Sasquatches a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
In the bottom of the first, Saint John shortstop Carlos Hickling had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Hickling stroked a 2-run double to right. It made the score 3-0, Saint John. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Hickling said. "We did a good job of that today."
The next game is set to be played Thursday, November 19th, 1987. Slated to start are Olezka Rochegov for Saint John and Suhayb bin Mahmoud for Cardiff.
