Almost There: Poughkeepsie On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 4-3 Win

The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 3 today. The Sheriffs got took the 4-3 win against the Saint John Sasquatches in a walk-off at Sheriffs Ballpark. Poughkeepsie second baseman Ryan Young was named player of the game after he was 4-4 with 4 singles. He scored 2 runs. The win gives the Sheriffs a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Ray Parker was the walk-off hero for Poughkeepsie. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sheriffs third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"We haven't stopped playing," Saint John manager Jason Russell said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
Game 6 is set to be played Tuesday, November 4th, 1980 in Saint John. The scheduled starters for the game are Alberto Vázquez for the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs and Bobby McLean for the the Saint John Sasquatches.
