Sheriffs Get Past Haymakers 6-4 to Open DF
The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs started the Division Finals in style today, winning on the road against the Philadelphia Haymakers at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium by a score of 6-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Sheriffs right-hander Davis Short threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Yoshii Kiyomizu? The Poughkeepsie center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sheriffs on top, 2-0. For the game, Kiyomizu had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Kiyomizu.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium. Slated to start are Josh Weightman for the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs and Jake Greer for the the Philadelphia Haymakers.
