Díaz Blasts Golden Giants, Sasquatches Take Game 3, 6-3
|
The Saint John Sasquatches have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Halifax Golden Giants, winning 6-3 at Golden Giants Stadium today. Sasquatches center fielder Jesús Díaz was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Sasquatches to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Division Finals.
The outcome might have been different for Saint John, had it not been for Octávio Baca, the top prospect . Baca stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Saint John up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Díaz attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow in Halifax. The scheduled starters for the game are Héctor Pérez for the Saint John Sasquatches and Will Duke for the the Halifax Golden Giants.
