Haymakers Even With Sasquatches After Walk-Off Win
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers relied on the hitting of catcher Rob Barnard to get by the Saint John Sasquatches, 6-5, in Game 2 of the ACB Championship today. For the game, Barnard went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Barnard hit a sinker from Haroun Al Rachid Awad for a run-scoring single. The Haymakers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Barnard described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
The next game is set to be played Friday, September 15th, 1989 at Saint John Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Everton Mackaness for Philadelphia and Mudawar bin Hassan for Saint John.
