Poughkeepsie Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs powered past the hometown Moncton Bucks, 3-2, in the opener of the ACB Championship at Resurgo Stadium today. Poughkeepsie starting pitcher Chao Men threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Sheriffs now lead the series 1-0.

Poughkeepsie used the timely hitting of Bob Browne to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sheriffs on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Browne.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Resurgo Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Charlie Follows for Poughkeepsie and Allen McGinnity for Moncton.
