Raucous Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium Crowd Propels Haymakers to 6-2 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers and the Saint John Sasquatches will take the ACB Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Haymakers beat the Sasquatches 6-2 at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Philadelphia right-hander Sergio Vargas was named player of the game in the win after he threw 5 innings allowing 1 run.
Louie Truswell, the Philadelphia shortstop, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 3-0, Haymakers. For the game, Truswell went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"Big team win," Vargas said later.
Game 7 is set to be played tomorrow at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium in Philadelphia. Slated to start are Mudawar bin Hassan for the Saint John Sasquatches and Everton Mackaness for the the Philadelphia Haymakers.
