1B Lago Lights Up Golden Giants for 7 RBIs as Sheriffs Extend Lead
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of designated hitter Nyles Lago, the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs stopped the visiting Halifax Golden Giants, 9-2, in Game 2 of the ACB Championship today. Lago hit 3 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring three times for the Sheriffs, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Lago came through for Poughkeepsie with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. He hit a first pitch slider to left-center field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Poughkeepsie manager Kyle Barnhart told reporters.
Game 3 is set to be played Monday at Golden Giants Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Tyler Frisby for the Poughkeepsie Sheriffs and John Bryant for the the Halifax Golden Giants.
