On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot Rockville Superbas team, Davis Short had a tough assignment. He delivered.

The Poughkeepsie Sheriffs right-hander dominated the hosts, tossing 8 innings of shutout ball and guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 2-0. Short, 28, was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of shutout ball in the contest. The win means Poughkeepsie now trails - in the best-of- series.
