Host Salamanders Drop Pivotal Game , Now Trail Series -
|
The Cardiff Alliance have a critical edge over the Fredericton Salamanders in the TBL Classic, thanks to the veteran arm of Simon Schwer.
Schwer, 31, put on a dominant performance at Swerdlove Stadium today, leading the Alliance to victory, 6-1, in a pivotal Game . Cardiff is now one game away from the TBL Classic, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Fredericton will need to win both remaining games to advance.
It could have been a different outcome for Cardiff, had it not been for Earl Willard, the 12-year veteran . Willard contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put Cardiff up, 2-0.
"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Cardiff manager Fedele Sapia said.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Swerdlove Stadium. Slated to start are Elton Thompson for the Cardiff Alliance and Todd Baldwin for the the Fredericton Salamanders.
