James, Haymakers Sink Swordsmen Again in Game
|
Philadelphia Haymakers second baseman Travis James was the difference-maker at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium today, winning player of the game honors as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game of the ACB Championship. The Haymakers took the 8-4 win over the Monterrey Swordsmen to seize a - lead in the best-of- series.
Francisco Vargas, who finished 2nd in the SL in RBI with 122 in 1982, aided the Philadelphia cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman went 1 for 5 with a home run.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Vargas. "And not try to do too much."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium. Slated to start are Joshua Menzies for Monterrey and Damon Boggs for Philadelphia.
