ACB Championship Game 1 goes to Philadelphia Thanks to Boggs
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers are one game away from a sweep after a 6-2 win over the visiting Monterrey Swordsmen at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium today. Haymakers left-hander Damon Boggs was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Philadelphia now holds a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
In the bottom of the sixth, Philadelphia right fielder Edward Cruz had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Cruz stroked a 2-run double to right-center. It made the score 4-0, Philadelphia. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I really like what we did out there today," Cruz said after the game.
Game 5 is scheduled for Sunday at Ballpark of Monterrey. The scheduled starters for the game are John Cole for Philadelphia and Jacob Kirkland for Monterrey.
