Vargas, Haymakers Wallop Swordsmen in Game of ACBC
|
The Philadelphia Haymakers moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the Monterrey Swordsmen on the road at Ballpark of Monterrey by a score of 8-2. Haymakers third baseman Francisco Vargas was named player of the game after he went 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. The win gives the Haymakers a - advantage in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Philadelphia used a timely hit from Travis James to get the win. The second baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Haymakers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Vargas said (again).
