TBL Classic Game 1 Victory for Tulun and Cardiff
|
The Cardiff Alliance moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Philadelphia Haymakers at Bute Park Cardiff City Stadium by a score of 6-3. Alliance right-hander Hizkaias Tulun was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Alliance a - advantage in the best-of- TBL Classic.
Cardiff left fielder Ivanhoe Pahtanov contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Pahtanov was 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 times.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Cardiff manager Fedele Sapia told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Bute Park Cardiff City Stadium. Slated to start are Sergio Vargas for the Philadelphia Haymakers and Simon Schwer for the the Cardiff Alliance.
