Pivotal Game Goes to Host Alliance, 5-4
The Cardiff Alliance needed some last-minute heroics to do it, but ultimately emerged one game away from the Round 2 today. The Alliance got took the 5-4 win against the Philadelphia Haymakers in a walk-off at Bute Park Cardiff City Stadium. Cardiff right fielder Soini Isomäki was named player of the game after he was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. The win gives the Alliance a - advantage in the best-of- TBL Classic.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Isomäki hit a sinker from Will Jardine for a run-scoring single. The Alliance, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I felt good up there," said Isomäki. "I saw the ball well."

Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 27th, 1989 in Philadelphia. Slated to start are Simon Schwer for the Cardiff Alliance and Damon Boggs for the the Philadelphia Haymakers.
