Cardona, Haymakers Sink Alliance Again in Game
The Philadelphia Haymakers have a critical edge over the Cardiff Alliance in the ACB Championship, thanks to the veteran bat of Mauro Cardona.

Cardona, 37, put on a showcase performance at Bute Park Cardiff City Stadium today, leading the Haymakers to victory, 5-1, in a pivotal Game . Philadelphia is now one game away from the ACB Championship, leading the best-of- series by a margin of - . Cardiff will need to win both remaining games to advance.

Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Francisco Vargas to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Haymakers ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was an important one.

Alliance manager Fedele Sapia did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the ACB Championship."

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday in Philadelphia. The scheduled starters for the game are Hizkaias Tulun for Cardiff and Sergio Vargas for Philadelphia.
