Almost There: Cardiff On Cusp of TBLC Triumph After 5-2 Win
|
The Cardiff Alliance moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the Philadelphia Haymakers on the road at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium by a score of 5-2. Alliance right-hander Qaraja Badr al Din was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Alliance a - advantage in the best-of- TBL Classic.
It could have been a different outcome for Cardiff, had it not been for Soini Isomäki, the 27-year old right fielder . Isomäki contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Cardiff up, 5-2.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Cardiff manager Fedele Sapia told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the TBL Classic, it's only going to get harder."
