Blankenship Sizzles with 25-Game Batting Streak

The Newark Gunners whipped Rockville today 6-3, but couldn't stop Superbas first baseman Marvin Blankenship from adding to his consecutive-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old Blankenship collected 2 hits and pushed the streak to 25 games in a row.
"Every game I keep this streak alive I go home and write a message to (owner) Charlie Cobb saying 'You better start saving for my next contract,'" he told reporters after the game. Marvin Blankenship singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th and grounded out in the 8th.
In his stats this season, Blankenship has posted a batting average of .346 with 83 hits in 240 at-bats, 1 home run and 18 RBIs. He has also scored 39 runs, walked 27 times and compiled a .411 OBP.
