Shakelady Hits in 20 Straight Games
Wednesday, July 24th, 1991
Cameron Shakelady continued his streak at Flames Ballpark today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Glade Spring third baseman was 1-for-4 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Diamond Cats were not as fortunate, losing 6-2 to the Fairfax Flames.
"Shakelady was hitting everything we threw at him," said Fairfax manager Víctor Avillas. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win." Cameron Shakelady grounded out in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Norishige Kobayashi in the 6th and flied out in the 9th.
So far on the season Shakelady is hitting .374 with 12 home runs, 81 RBIs and 101 runs scored. He has 161 hits and played in 95 games.
