Postseason Bid Ends for Evansville
Thursday, August 25th, 1977
It won't be a season to remember for the Evansville Wildfire, as the club has officially missed out on the playoffs. The Wildfire were mathematically eliminated from qualification today.
"With any luck, in a couple years we will look back on the 1977 season as an important stepping stone to a title," said Evansville starting pitcher Jimmy Parker.
Evansville last appeared in the postseason in 1974. This is their 3rd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 48 times in their 66-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Wildfire have missed the playoffs 9 times. Evansville last won the Round 1 in 1974.
