Portsmouth Goes Hitless Against Almond Friday, July 26th, 1991 Alan Almond was untouchable today at Bute Park Cardiff City Stadium, displaying a good fastball and wicked breaking balls in his 4-0 win against the Portsmouth Diamonds. The Cardiff hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 8 while walking 0. "This is great," Almond told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. I just wanted the win, but the no-hitter is a little extra icing on the victory cake." So far this season Almond has a record of 8-7 with 70 strikeouts and 32 walks in 117 innings and a 3.23 ERA.
