Player of the Week: Liverpool's Kikuchi
Monday, August 18th, 1975
Kuma Kikuchi must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .421 clip, then the Liverpool right fielder finds out he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the TBL Player of the Week Award.
He told BNN reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too."
For the week Kikuchi batted .421 (8-for-19) with 1 home run and 4 RBIs.
Presently Kikuchi is batting .308 with 5 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 87 games and scored 35 times.
