DC Prepatory Schools Top Player Is Pierce
Saturday, May 25th, 1991
He may have less experience than most of his DC Prepatory Schools peers, but that didn't slow Roy Pierce down at all in 1991.
At the age of 18, the St. Stephens first baseman has been named the winner of the DC Prepatory Schools Washington Post High School Hitter of the Year.
He had a .376 batting average and a .474 on-base percentage this year. In 49 games he piled up 68 hits, 8 doubles, 2 triples, 12 home runs, 35 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Steve Jefferson of the Landon School Bears finished second in voting, while Nick Willerton of the Episcopal HS Maroon finished third.
