Best MD-DC-VA Reliever Named
Monday, May 13th, 1991
Ray Thomason was a calming influence out of the Rockville HS Rams bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 15-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the DC Metro Public Schools Reliever of the Year Award for 1991.

The Columbia, Maryland native won the award with 5 saves in 19 relief appearances, 52 strikeouts in 31 innings and a record of 4-1 to go with his 1.16 ERA.

He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 28. Bruce Hamilton of the Northwest HS Falcons finished second in voting with 11 first place votes, while Wilson Álvarez of the Walt Whitman HS Vikings finished third.
