Gerald Key Wins MVP Trophy

Gerald Key took DC Metro Public Schools by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 14.
For his spectacular campaign, the Robert E Lee HS Lancers star has been named the 1991 DC Metro Public Schools Washington Post High School Hitter of the Year recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the right fielder.
On the season he compiled a .356 batting average to go with a .446 on-base percentage. The native of Avon Park, Florida also added 10 doubles, no triples, 14 home runs, 39 RBIs and 40 runs scored.
He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 28. Michael Johnston of the George C Marshall HS Griffins finished second in voting with 13 first place votes, while Dave Tatum of the Col Magruder HS Colonels finished third.
