Sullivan Shows Off, Hits for Cycle
Saturday, March 30th, 1991
Requiring speed, power and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Claude Sullivan, consider that test passed.

The 16-year-old third baseman hit for the cycle at Field of the Rebels today to lead the Fairfax HS Rebels to a 12-2 win over the Mount Vernon HS Majors. All told, Sullivan delivered 4 hits in 5 at-bats with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."

Claude Sullivan hit an RBI double in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Rich Rodgers in the 5th, tripled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and walked in the 8th.

This season Sullivan has delivered 28 hits in 111 at-bats for a .252 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .314 clip and his totals also include 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored. This year Sullivan has played in 31 games.
