West Springfield HS Goes Hitless Against Fernández Friday, April 5th, 1991 Fairfax HS Rebels starter Ángel Fernández was unhittable today at Terriers Ballpark. Fernández beat the West Springfield HS Spartans 4-0, breezing through the Spartans lineup en route to a no-hitter. "I thought Ángel started off a little slow and was struggling with his command at first," Rebels manager Xiao-yan Tah said later. "He lucked his way through the early innings, and they helped him out by not being patient. Eventually, it all came together for him, and from there on the Spartans never had a chance. He dominated them." Fernández struck out 12 batters and issued 5 walks in the performance. In 11 starts this season Fernández has registered a 3-6 record and a 4.90 ERA. |
