González Sensational, 19 Ks Saturday, April 6th, 1991 Everything was working for Tony González today at Field of the Red Aces. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The splitter was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 15-year-old González fanned 19 Warriors and sparked the Richard Montgomery HS Rockets to a 9-1 victory over Sherwood HS. He left Warriors hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Richard Montgomery HS manager Ron Green. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 19 strikeouts over 8 innings, González allowed 3 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," González said with a smile. This season González has compiled a 4-2 mark, 4.91 ERA and made 8 starts. |
