Mexicali Blanks Phoenix Behind Bell Saturday, June 15th, 1991 The Phoenix Firebirds ran into a buzzsaw at Firebirds Ballpark today as Mexicali Crossings starter Ewan Bell cut them down to size, 10-0, tossing a 4-hit shutout. "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Crossings manager Alberto Bravo told reporters after the game. "Ewan knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one." In the complete game whitewash, the Mexicali hurler doled out no walks and registered 2 strikeouts.
