Almost There: Brooklyn On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 5-2 Win
|
Game was big. So was Ricardo Rico.
The Brooklyn starter rose to the occasion at Robert Boyd Memorial Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Bums to a crucial 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Haymakers. Rico threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball as the Bums won on the road to seize a - lead in the best-of- ACB Championship.
Rico was in the zone all game. He frustrated Philadelphia hitters while giving the Bums 9 innings of quality work. Rico threw 90 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 3 punchouts.
"Every team in baseball loses," Haymakers manager Jason Bartlett said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
Game 7 is set to be played Monday at Bushwick Stadium in Brooklyn. Slated to start are Johnny Downey for the Philadelphia Haymakers and Gerald Rapson for the the Brooklyn Bums.
