Almost There: Rockville On Cusp of ACBC Triumph After 5-4 Win
|
Brooklyn designated hitter Mike Anderson pounded Rockville pitchers at Rock Creek Sports Complex, but it was not enough to keep the Bums from losing in a walk-off. The Superbas fell 5-4 in Game of the ACB Championship. Anderson went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Bums slip into a - tie in the best-of- series.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Håkon Olsnes came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Robbie MacClacher, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Rockville on top, 5-4.
"It was a good effort all around," said Olsnes.
The next game is scheduled for Friday at Bushwick Stadium. Slated to start are Jack MacNaughton for the Rockville Superbas and António Hernández for the the Brooklyn Bums.
