Beach Bums Win 1986 TBL Classic
|
With a 3-2 win over the Truro United tonight at Beach Bums Ballpark, the Kingston upon Hull Beach Bums wrapped up their 1st title in team history.
Kingston upon Hull left little doubt who was the better club. "Team" was the word of the day as the Beach Bums celebrated the culmination of their banner year in the victors clubhouse following the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Kingston upon Hull manager Søren Ove. "Our players felt that way all year and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as Kingston upon Hull celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" in the works.
"We're going to celebrate our team, our championship Kingston upon Hull Beach Bums," he said.
The champions completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the The Baseball League and a 63-45 record.
