Zamora's Hit Streak Over
Friday, July 24th, 1987
Portsmouth center fielder José Zamora experienced something against the New London Widowmakers he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.

The Widowmakers pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 25 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Pirates to a 6-5 victory at Pirates Ballpark.

"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 25-game hitting streak," Zamora joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."

In the 1987 season Zamora is hitting .351 with 6 home runs.
