Memoto Bashes 5 Base Hits
Thursday, September 12th, 1991
Cwmbran Arthurs catcher Tsuneyo Memoto had a day to remember at Stars Ballpark today, ripping apart the Bridgend Stars and sparking the Arthurs to a 25-2 victory.
Memoto wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Memoto told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Tsuneyo Memoto hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
This season Memoto has hit at a .303 clip with 46 RBIs, 3 home runs and 44 runs scored. He has played in 59 games.
