Playoff Bound: Unicorns Win Wild Card
Tuesday, September 17th, 1991
For the Neath Unicorns, it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's the mantra the team is following after today qualifying for the playoffs.
"We may be going into the playoffs as a wild card team, but we plan to finish the playoffs as champions," said starting pitcher Nathan Dampier. "There's no shortage of confidence from guys in our clubhouse."
With a record of 44-32, there will of course be teams with better track records in the postseason. But team manager Arlen O'Hagan said his club has "infinite optimism" that they can win the franchise's 19th Welsh Instructional League championship.
