bin Nazeeh Rockets 3 HR Against Halifax
Wednesday, July 24th, 1991
Canterbury Travelers first baseman Abbad bin Nazeeh put on a dazzling display of power today at Travelers Ballpark against the Halifax Redbirds. In the 23-3 Travelers victory bin Nazeeh penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Halifax manager Ian Gowlett said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 20-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," bin Nazeeh said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Abbad bin Nazeeh grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Ari Gandler in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Lewnis Mufid in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Nur bin Wahid in the 8th.
Currently bin Nazeeh is hitting .329 and has collected 7 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 28 times, while playing in 18 games.
