Pharaohs bin Jalil Blanks Al Theeb Al Ahmar
Thursday, July 25th, 1991
The Egyptian Academy Pharaohs did little to support starter Shareef bin Jalil against the Bahrain Academy Al Theeb Al Ahmar, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The left-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Al Theeb Al Ahmar, striking out 6 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from bin Jalil allowed Egyptian Academy to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Shareef, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," bin Jalil told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
