Mu'ayyad Sizzles in No-Hitter Tuesday, August 28th, 1990 Is it better to be lucky or good? After leading the Bahrain Academy Al Theeb Al Ahmar to victory, 1-0, and tossing a no-hitter over the Ivory Coast Academy Les Éléphants, Abdul-Shakur Mu'ayyad didn't have the answer. "I don't know," Mu'ayyad said. "To do what I did today, I'm pretty sure it takes both." On his big day at Cherries Ballpark, Mu'ayyad fanned 10 and had 1 walk. And it seemed that when the Les Éléphants managed to hit the ball hard, it went right at a defender. "That's how you get a no-hitter," Mu'ayyad said with a smile. "A lot of skill mixed with a little luck." This season Mu'ayyad has worked 65.1 innings with 75 strikeouts en route to a 6-1 record and a 2.76 ERA. |
